“Ads.txt Not Found”- The Easiest Guide Ever

Congrats…!

You just got approved from Adsense and now rushing to your adsense dashboard to start  creating and configuring your ads. right?

Well, That’s all good. But wait a second…

Haven’t you just come into something like a message up there on your dashboard that reads like this?


 
With that Ads.txt Status marked as “Not found“…

I’ll tell you what…

Having this message per se isn’t the real issue GUYS as all Adsense users are getting it…

The REAL issue lies, HOWEVER, at how to fix that…

YES, how to fix it…

In other words how to add that missing ads.txt file to your website.

That seems apriori nothing hard to do, right?

Just searching a little bit online, following some guides about it and the whole stuff is done RIGHT AWAY

Well, that’s how things should be but is not the case UNFORTUNATELY

Seemingly thousands of new Adsense users struggle everyday to resolve such an easy to fix issue HOWEVER

Questions JUST abound online on blogs and websites like Google Adsense Help Center, Reddit, Quora and more…from Adsense users asking DESPERATELY for help…

In this article, I’ll be explaining you how to add you Ads.txt file to you website the easiest way EVER.

And thus help you get over this and focus on your other more important things instead of wasting much time and effort on this…

But first GUYS, let me explain you what an ads.txt is…

What is an Ads.txt

Ads.txt or Authorized Digital Sellers is an initiative from IAB Tech Lab

Its objective is simple…

It helps you make sure the ads being shown on your platform are displayed thru only the sellers such as Adsense you have identified and authorized putting an end to ads from unauthorized sellers…

Only allowed sellers whose codes are added in your ads.txt file will be able to display ads on your website or blog.

Using an ads.txt file isn’t obligatory HOWEVER but I recommend it, so you can benefit fully from all your advertisers’ spend.

Fixing Ads.txt Not found Issue in Adsense

You got a website or blog without an ads.txt file…

Well, that’s why you’re getting that message saying “ads.txt status Not found”…

This file is just MISSING on your website…

Ok, I am aware of that now but how am I going to fix it?

Alright, let’s cut to the chase…

What you’ll need to do is…

SIMPLY Following these TWO EASY steps here:

First Step – Head to your Adsense Dashboard

To begin with…

Log into your adsense account, then head to that message and click “Fix now“!

By the way, you can also click on “Sites” on the left side of your Adsense dashboard…

Both ways will get you to land on the following page…

Go and click on your Site URL as shown here…

In next screen, you’ll get a text like the following to copy…

Well, keep that page open and don’t Copy it” (AT LEAST not for the moment…)

Second Step – Head to your WordPress Dashboard

In this section, we are going to use a plugin…

And its name is “File Manager

Just follow these simple steps to install it, then activate it…

1 – Go to the WordPress dashboard.
2 – On the left side, click “Plugins”, then “Add New Plugin”.
3 – Type this plugin name in there : “WP File Manager”
4 – Once it comes up, click “Install Now”, then “Activate”.

NOW as you just activated it, go to the left side of your dashboard, you’ll see it added in there → click on it…

What you’re getting is the entire file structure of your website displayed in front of you:

Go and click on “New File” Icon → click “TXT: Plain text

Rename it as “Ads.txt” and click “ENTER“.

Right after, go and click on “EDIT FILE” that appear on the right corner in green color:

You got now that file open and ready to paste in anything, right?

GREAT

Do you remember when I told you to keep your Adsense Publisher ID page open and don’t copy it…

Well, “Copy” it from there NOW and paste it in this file here, then hit save.

And that’s it…

You are all done NOW!

As I told you before GUYS, It is as simple as that!

Check for updates on your ads.txt status

Go back to your Adsense Dashboard → click on “Sites” on the left side

Click now on “Site URL” and then “Check for updates

And Bingo

Your ads.txt file has just been detected and ” Not found” Status is now updated as “authorized

NOT Using WordPress?

For YOU GUYS not using WordPress, you can instead follow this SIMPLE process to install your ads.txt file on your website.

First go to the Root directory of your website

And then add the ads.txt file in it.

That’s it!
